League Two strugglers Newport County claim Colchester point
Newport County picked up their first League Two point since November thanks to a hard-fought 1-1 draw at home to Colchester United.
The Exiles last won on November 19th, the same day Colchester last lost a league game and since then, John McGreal's men have shot up the table to sixth after an eight-game unbeaten streak.
But Swansea loanee Josh Sheehan and Chris Porter exchanged first-half goals as County picked up a crucial point in their relegation battle.
After a cagey opening, it was the hosts who broke the deadlock after Sheehan's outside of the boot effort took a slight deflection and eluded Sam Walker in the Colchester net.
But The U's came back 11 minutes later when Kurtis Guthrie - who bagged a hat-trick against Carlisle United last weekend - was tripped by Darren Jones in the area, with captain Porter sending Joe Day the wrong way from the spot.
The visitors continued to get forward after the break, but failed to put Day into any danger.
At the other end, Sheehan forced Walker to tip smartly over bar after a curling strike from the edge of the box, before the goalkeeper was on hand again to comfortably deny a Craig Reid header.
