Genaro Snijders scores the only goal as Notts County beat Newport
Genaro Snijders' first-half strike gave Notts County a 1-0 win at Newport County in Sky Bet League Two.
The Dutch forward hit a sweet volley after Newport goalkeeper Joe Day had failed to clear Graham Burke's cross from the left.
It was the 26-year-old's first goal since the August 29 and only his second of the campaign.
Newport striker Dean Morgan had wasted a great chance to put the home side in front after 10 minutes when he missed an open goal following a mix-up in the visitors' defence.
Morgan did better with another opportunity minutes later but his shot was blocked by Mike Edwards.
Snijders then broke the deadlock five minutes before half-time with a good finish after Day's error.
Souleymane Coulibaly had a great chance to level things up for the Exiles in the second half but his shot was cleared off the line by Elliott Hewitt.
Jon Stead went close with a couple of efforts for the visitors but they could not add to their single goal.
The defeat leaves Warren Feeney's Newport without a win in their last 10 league fixtures.
