Paris Cowan-Hall sends Wycombe past Newport

Paris Cowan-Hall scored a bizarre winner as Wycombe beat Newport 2-1 to record their eighth win in nine league games.

Despite dominating possession, the Chairboys had to come from behind against Sky Bet League Two's bottom club, who have now lost seven league games in a row.

Wanderers' Sam Wood had the game's first clear chance on 32 minutes when he forced Newport goalkeeper Joe Day into a good stop after Garry Thompson's long-throw ran his way.

Newport went ahead against the run of play on the hour when Mark Randall took advantage of an awful error by Aaron Pierre by finishing calmly when clean through.

But the hosts drew level ten minutes later through a fantastic finish by Wood from the edge of the area after Adebayo Akinfenwa flicked on Joe Jacobson's free-kick.

Then followed a cruel blow for the Exiles, as Cowan-Hall's miscued cross from deep ended up floating over the desperate Day and into the net to complete the turnaround.
