Jones set for Exiles bow

Newport are set to hand new signing Billy Jones a debut against Morecambe.

The 30-year-old former Exeter left-back penned a short-term deal on Thursday following his departure from Cheltenham and will fill the void left by Andy Sandell who is sidelined for three months with a foot injury.

Manager Justin Edinburgh will be forced into one change against the Shrimps after Lee Minshull was shown a straight red in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Mansfield for the use of an elbow.

Chris Zebroski is expected to continue upfront after netting his fourth goal of the season for the Exiles against the Stags last time out.

Defender Robbie Threlfall will start a three-match ban for Morecambe as they seek a fourth straight Sky Bet League Two win.

Threlfall was given a straight red card just seven minutes after coming on in the Shrimps' third win in a row last weekend against Southend.

Given their current impressive form it is unlikely boss Jim Bentley will alter his first-choice XI in south Wales anyway.

Defender Chris McCready (broken collarbone) and striker Jack Redshaw (hip) are the only injury absentees for Morecambe with both some way off a return to first-team action.
