Pidgeley set for rest

Newport may decide to rest goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley when they face Dagenham this weekend.

The former Exeter goalkeper has been playing with a broken finger since December 29 due to a lack of a replacement shotstopper but Jamie Stephens is available again, handing manager Justin Edinburgh the chance to give Pidgeley some recovery time.

Stephens came through 45 minutes of Tuesday's friendly defeat to Cheltenham reserves unscathed, his first appearance since tearing his hamstring in early December.

One player who will not feature against the Daggers is left-back Billy Jones who left the club last week after his short-term contract with the Exiles expired.

Dagenham will be without Dominic Samuel as they look to get back to winning ways.

The on-loan striker was forced off nursing a knee injury just 40 minutes into his debut in last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood, which leaves the club with one win in seven games, and duly returned to parent club Reading for treatment.

Samuel is yet to discover the full extent of his injury but Daggers boss Wayne Burnett has revealed he is unlikely to be available for the remainder of his month-long loan.

Billy Bingham (knee), Matt Saunders and Jordan Seabright (both ankle) are set to miss out once more, while striker Josh Scott this week left the club by mutual consent.
